MUMBAI – The National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange announced Thursday a revised liquidity enhancement scheme for guar seeds options on futures contracts, which will commence from Monday, to encourage active and enhanced market participation.

The exchange had on Apr. 13 announced the closure of its erstwhile scheme for guar seed options, effective Apr. 30, adding that a revised scheme will be introduced soon. The erstwhile scheme came into effect on Apr. 2, 2025. The exchange had also said it will appoint one designated market maker based on a competitive bidding process. The last day for filing applications for the same was Apr. 17.

Under the revised scheme, the designated market maker is eligible for a monthly incentive of up to INR 3 million per month. One of the conditions for receiving the full payout was that the market maker must devote 80% of trading time daily, from 1000 IST to 1700 IST, providing quotes for near-month guar options contract. Up to 70% of trading time daily within the prescribed time frame was acceptable at a discounted rate. A market presence of below 70% trading time would make the market marker ineligible for any compensation. In the earlier scheme, the monthly incentive for the market maker was up to INR 4 million per month.

The exchange had also detailed other parameters and conditions related to the revised scheme. End
