EIA says US natural gas stocks up 79 bcf in week ended Apr 24

MUMBAI – Inventories of natural gas in the US rose 79 billion cubic feet in the week ended Apr. 24, according to data from the US Energy Information Administration. The inventory was 7.7% higher than the five-year average, from 2021 to 2025, for this time of the year, the agency said in its weekly report released Thursday.
Total working gas in underground storage was 2.14 trillion cubic feet as of Apr. 24. The stocks were 153 billion cubic feet higher than the five-year average of 1.99 trillion cubic feet and 116 billion cubic feet above the year-ago levels, the agency said.
A week ago, the agency had clarified that working gas stock estimates were revised to reflect resubmissions of data for the 33-week period from Aug. 29 to Apr. 10, in large part because of respondent resubmissions reflecting restatements of natural gas in storage from working gas to base gas.
Total working gas remained within the five-year historical range. All the regions--East, Midwest, Mountain, Pacific, and the South Central, which includes salt and non-salt regions--saw a rise in inventories, the agency said. End
