MCX iCOMDEX Composite index opens higher, led by rise in all 3 components

MUMBAI – The Multi Commodity Exchange of India's iCOMDEX Composite index opened higher Thursday on the back of a rise in all three component indices. It opened at 24725.93 points, up from 24660.05 points at close of trading Wednesday. At 0958 IST, it was trading higher at 24828.00.

 

Of the three components of the composite index, bullion index traded 0.2% higher, with gold sub-index up 0.1% and silver up 0.5%. The base metals index was nearly flat, with aluminium sub-index up 0.2% but copper, lead and zinc sub-indices were down up to 0.1%.

 

The energy index traded 3.3% higher, with crude oil trading 3.6% higher and natural gas up 0.5%.

 

The MCX iCOMDEX comprises a series of real-time commodity futures price indices and tracks the performance of a basket of commodity futures. It serves as a benchmark for market movements in bullion, base metals, and energy.   End
