Soybean up in Ratlam on firm demand; mustard seed steady

MUMBAI – Soybean prices rose in Ratlam due to firm demand from millers and groundnut prices rose in key markets as there was aggressive buying due to increased import costs of the edible oils. Mustard seed prices were steady in key markets as demand was limited at higher rates, they said.
SOYBEAN prices in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, rose INR 100 to INR 2,925-INR 6,150 per 100 kg due to firm demand from millers for domestic oilseed, said Narendra Porwal, a local trader. Arrivals were at 2,600 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), up 100 bags from the previous day. In Kota, the price of soybean was steady at INR 5,850 per 100 kg, Mahesh Sameriya a local trader. Arrivals were at 12,000 bags, same as the previous day.
MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur, Rajasthan, were steady at INR 7,200-INR 7,225 per 100 kilograms, traders at the Marudhar Trading Agency said. Arrivals across the country were at 1.1 million bags (1 bag = 50 kg), up from 1.05 million bags the previous day, they said. Prices were steady after rising the previous day due to firm demand for new arrivals having higher oil content, they said.
In Kota, Rajasthan, mustard seed prices were steady at INR 6,950 per 100 kg, said Sameriya. Prices were steady as demand was limited at higher rates, he said.
GROUNDNUT prices rose in Ratlam by INR 100 to INR 3,350-INR 8,250 per 100 kg as demand was good, traders said. Arrivals were at 3,300 bags (1 bag = 30 kg), they said.
