MCX iCOMDEX index opens down, rises later on high bullion, base metals rates

MUMBAI – After opening marginally lower from the previous day, the MCX iCOMDEX Composite index rose Wednesday as bullion and base metals indices traded higher. The composite index opened at 24602.63 points, down from the previous day's close of 24603.87 points. At 1003 IST, it was trading at 24636.62 points.
Of its three components, bullion and base metals indices were up, while the energy index traded lower.
The MCX iCOMDEX bullion index was up 0.2%, with gold and silver higher by 0.1% and 0.5%, respectively. The base metals index was up 0.5%, with aluminium and zinc up 0.7% and 0.5%, respectively. Copper was up 0.5%, while lead was up 0.1%.
However, the energy index was down 0.8% from its previous close. Within the index, the crude oil sub-index was down 0.8%, while natural gas was down nearly 1.1%.
The MCX iCOMDEX comprises a series of real-time commodity futures price indices and tracks the performance of a basket of commodity futures. It serves as a benchmark for market movements in bullion, base metals, and energy. End
