MCX's iCOMDEX Composite index opens up Tue but falls in volatile market

MUMBAI – The Multi Commodity Exchange of India's iCOMDEX Composite index opened at 24790.75 points Tuesday, up from 24761.59 points at close the previous day. However, it soon fell and was at 24751.37 points at 0945 IST.
Of its three components, bullion and base metals indices were down, while the energy index traded higher.
The MCX iCOMDEX bullion index was down 0.2%, with gold and silver lower by 0.1% and 0.5%, respectively. The base metals index was down 0.4%, with aluminium and zinc down 0.4% and nearly 1%, respectively. Copper was up 0.1% while lead was unchanged.
The energy index was up a little more than 1%. Within the index, the crude oil sub-index was up 1.3% while natural gas was down nearly 1%.
The MCX iCOMDEX comprises a series of real-time commodity futures price indices and tracks the performance of a basket of commodity futures. It serves as a benchmark for market movements in bullion, base metals, and energy. End
