MUMBAI – Oilseed prices were steady in the key markets of the country due to need-based demand, traders said. But prices are likely to increase as demand from millers is expected to rise amid costly edible oil imports, traders added.

MUSTARD seed prices were steady in Jaipur, Rajasthan, at INR 7,175-INR 7,200 per 100 kilograms, traders at the Marudhar Trading Agency said. Arrivals across the country were at 1 million bags (1 bag = 50 kg) same as the previous day, they said. Prices were steady because demand was limited at high prices, traders said.

In Kota, Rajasthan, mustard seed prices were steady at INR 6,900 per 100 kg since Wednesday, when it rose because of good demand for seeds with higher oil content, said Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader.

SOYBEAN prices in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, were steady at INR 2,825-INR 5,950 per 100 kg as demand was limited at higher prices, Narendra Porwal, a local trader, said. Prices had risen INR 50 per 100 kg on Friday due to firm demand amid lower arrivals, Porwal said. Arrivals were at 2,500 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), up 200 bags from Friday. In Kota, the price of soybean was steady at INR 5,850 per 100 kg, Sameriya said. Arrivals in Kota were at 13,000 bags, up 1,000 bags from the previous day.

GROUNDNUT prices in Ratlam were steady at INR 3,250-INR 8,150 per 100 kg, traders said. Arrivals were at 3,300 bags (1 bag = 30 kg), they said.
