MCX iCOMDEX Composite index opens higher Monday; all component indices rise

MUMBAI – The Multi Commodity Exchange of India's iCOMDEX Composite index opened higher Monday, pulled up by a rise in all the three component indices. The composite index opened at 24839.69 points, up from 24777.98 points at Friday's close. At 0940 IST, it was trading at 24907.90 points.
All the three component indices were up in early trade Monday. The bullion index was up 0.2%, with both gold and silver indices up in the same measures.
The base metals index was up 0.8%. Within it, the sub-indices for aluminium and copper were up 1% and 0.8%, respectively, while the lead and zinc sub-indices were up 0.5% and 0.8%, respectively.
The energy index was also 1.9% higher, pulled up by a 2% rise in crude oil and 0.1% rise in natural gas.
The iCOMDEX comprises a series of real-time commodity futures price indices and tracks the performance of a basket of commodity futures. It serves as a benchmark for market movements in bullion, base metals, and energy.
