MUMBAI – Prices of soybean were mixed in key markets of the country Friday, while mustard seed prices were steady, traders said. Groundnut prices were also steady in key markets, they said. Oilseed prices are likely to increase as demand from millers is expected to rise amid costly edible oil imports, traders added.
MUSTARD seed prices were steady in Jaipur, Rajasthan, at INR 7,175-INR 7,200 per 100 kilograms, traders at the Marudhar Trading Agency said. Arrivals across the country were at 1 million bags (1 bag = 50 kg) up from 950,000 bags the previous day, they said. Prices were steady because demand was limited at high rates and as arrivals increased, traders said.
In Kota, also in Rajasthan, mustard seed prices were steady at INR 6,900 per 100 kg after increasing on Wednesday because of good demand for seeds with higher oil content, said Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader.
SOYBEAN prices in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, rose INR 50 to INR 2,825-INR 5,950 per 100 kg due to firm demand amid lower arrivals, Narendra Porwal, a local trader, said. Arrivals were at 2,300 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), down 100 bags from the previous day. In Kota, the price of soybean fell INR 50 to INR 5,850 per 100 kg, Sameriya said. Arrivals in Kota were at 12,000 bags, down 2,000 bags from the previous day.
GROUNDNUT prices in Ratlam were steady at INR 3,250-INR 8,150 per 100 kg, traders said. Arrivals were at 3,300 bags (1 bag = 30 kg), they said.
