MCX iCOMDEX opens lower, dragged down by all components amid volatile trade

MUMBAI – The Multi Commodity Exchange of India's iCOMDEX Composite index opened lower Friday, dragged down by a fall in all three components. Amid volatile early trade, the Composite index opened at 24748.55 points, down from 24756.75 at Thursday's close. At 0928 IST, it was down 0.3%.
The bullion index was down 0.3%, the energy index was down 0.5%, and the base metals index was down less than 0.1%.
Within the bullion domain, the gold sub-index was trading down 0.3% and silver was down 0.4%.
In the energy group, crude oil was 0.5% lower from the previous close, whereas natural gas was down 0.7%.
In the base metals group, aluminium, lead and zinc sub-indices were marginally up, although copper was down 0.2%.
The iCOMDEX comprises a series of real-time commodity futures price indices and tracks the performance of a basket of commodity futures. It serves as a benchmark for market movements in bullion, base metals, and energy. End
