National Consumer Cooperative Federation starts masur procurement in Bihar

MUMBAI – The National Consumer Cooperative Federation of India Ltd. has begun procuring masur in Bihar for the first time, the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution said in a release Thursday. As of Apr. 22, the federation has procured 100.4 tonnes of masur in the state against the target of 32,000 tonnes, the ministry said.
The federation has onboarded 59 farmers and registered 16 primary agricultural credit societies as of Wednesday, it said. Meanwhile, the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd. is also preparing to scale operations under the Price Support Scheme through its cooperative network across the state, the release said.
In Chhattisgarh, procurement under the Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay SanraksHan Abhiyan has gained momentum with digitised farmer participation through the E-Samyukti portal and extensive awareness campaigns, including grassroots outreach, the release said. A network of 85 primary agricultural credit society centres is currently operational, with procurement underway in the districts of Dhamtari, Durg, Balod, Balodabazar, Raipur, Raigarh, and Sarangarh. Operations are set to expand to Sarguja, Kondagaon, and Koriya, the release said. End
