All up; mustard rises on arrival of good quality seeds

MUMBAI – Mustard seed prices rose in Jaipur and Kota owing to the arrival of good quality seeds, traders said. Soybean prices also rose in key markets on firm demand for domestic oilseeds from millers. Groundnut prices also rose in key markets, they said.
MUSTARD seed prices rose in Jaipur in Rajasthan by INR 25 to INR 7,175-INR 7,200 per 100 kilograms on the arrival of good-quality seed and good demand from millers, traders at Marudhar Trading Agency said. Arrivals across the country were steady at 950,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), they said.
In Kota, also in Rajasthan, mustard seed prices rose by INR 99 to INR 6,900 per 100 kg as there was good demand for seeds with higher oil content, said Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader. Sameriya expects prices to rise by INR 200 per 100 kg in a week. By August, the price is expected to go up to INR 7,200 per 100 kg after the peak arrival season, tracking firm global prices, he said. Arrivals in Kota were 21,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg).
SOYBEAN prices in Ratlam rose by INR 50 to INR 2,825-INR 5,900 per 100 kg as there was firm demand from millers, Narendra Porwal, a local trader, said. Arrivals were at 2,400 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), down 100 bags from the previous day. Prices also rose as arrivals fell, Porwal said. Soybean price also rose by INR 100 in Kota to INR 5,800 per 100 kg, Sameriya said. Arrivals in Kota were 13,000 bags, up 1,000 bags from the previous day.
GROUNDNUT prices in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, rose by INR 50 to INR 3,250-INR 8,150 per 100 kg, traders said. Arrivals were at 3,300 bags (1 bag = 30 kg), they said.
