MCX's iCOMDEX Composite index opens up, supported by bullion, base metals

MUMBAI – The Multi Commodity Exchange of India's iCOMDEX Composite index opened marginally up Wednesday, supported by bullion and base metals indices, although energy index was down from Tuesday's close.

 

The composite index opened at 24481.14 points, up from Tuesday's closing level of 24479.71 points. At 0915 IST, it was up 0.9% at 24690.33 points.

 

Among the components of the composite index, MCX bulletin index was at 36910.44 points, up 1.2% from the previous close. Within this index, gold sub-index was up nearly 1% and silver up 1.8%.

 

The base metals index was up 0.5%, with aluminium, copper and zinc sub-indices up and lead index down.

 

The energy index was down 0.5%, with crude oil declining 0.6% and natural gas index rising 0.7%.

 

The iCOMDEX comprises a series of real-time commodity futures price indices and tracks the performance of a basket of commodity futures. It serves as a benchmark for market movements in bullion, base metals, and energy.  End
