MCX iCOMDEX Composite index opens down amid uncertainties over US-Iran war

MUMBAI – The Multi Commodity Exchange of India's iCOMDEX Composite index opened lower Tuesday as all components fell on account of uncertainties over peace talks scheduled to take place between the US and Iran this week to end the war. The composite index opened at 24724.01 points, down from 24725.56 at Monday's close. At 0955 IST, the index was down 0.4%.
Among the components of the composite index, the bullion index was down 0.2%, with gold sub-index down 0.1% and silver down 0.7%.
The energy index was down nearly 1%, with crude oil sub-index down 0.9% and natural gas down 0.6%.
The base metal component too, was down 0.3%. Among the sub-indices, aluminium, copper, lead and zinc---all were down marginally.
The iCOMDEX comprises a series of real-time commodity futures price indices and tracks the performance of a basket of commodity futures. It serves as a benchmark for market movements in bullion, base metals, and energy. End
