MUMBAI – Heatwave conditions are expected to continue in parts of east Uttar Pradesh till Monday, over Odisha from Sunday to Wednesday, and over west Rajasthan on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the India Meteorological Department. Similar weather is likely over east Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Vidarbha till Sunday and over Jharkhand on Monday and Tuesday, the weather department said.

 

Hot and humid weather is likely to prevail in pockets of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karnataka till Wednesday, over Kerala till Sunday, and over Andhra Pradesh till Monday, the weather bureau said. Warm night conditions are expected in parts of Chhattisgarh till Sunday, over Jharkhand till Tuesday, and over Odisha till Wednesday, the bureau said.

 

Maximum temperatures in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi are expected to gradually rise by 3–5 degrees Celsius till Friday, the weather department said. In east India, maximum temperatures are expected to rise slowly by 2–3 degrees Celsius till Tuesday, the department said. The maximum temperature in Maharashtra is likely to gradually fall by 2–3 degrees Celsius from Monday to Friday, it said. No significant change in maximum temperature is likely over the rest of the country.

 

Under the influence of an upper cyclonic circulation over northeast Bangladesh, heavy rainfall is likely over parts of Arunachal Pradesh till Tuesday and over Assam and Meghalaya on Monday and Tuesday, the weather bureau said. Light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds are likely over several parts of northeast India till Wednesday, the bureau said.

 

Another upper air cyclonic circulation, which lies over north coastal Odisha, is likely to cause heavy rainfall over parts of sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim till Sunday, the weather department said. A wet spell with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds is expected over parts of Odisha till Wednesday, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim till Tuesday, and Gangetic West Bengal and Bihar till Sunday, the department said.

 

A fresh western disturbance acting as a trough lies to the northwest of the country, while another western disturbance acting as a cyclonic circulation lies over north Pakistan, the weather bureau said. An upper cyclonic circulation lies over central Rajasthan, and a second such system lies over Haryana, the bureau said. A third upper air cyclonic circulation lies over east Uttar Pradesh, it said. These weather systems are expected to cause light to moderate rainfall or snowfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds over many parts of northwest India till Sunday.

 

A wet spell accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds is expected over parts of Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh on Monday and Tuesday, and over West Madhya Pradesh on Sunday and Monday, the weather department said.

 

An anti-cyclonic circulation lies over interior Maharashtra and adjoining Telangana and north interior Karnataka, the weather department said. Under its influence, light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds is expected over parts of central Maharashtra and Marathwada till Wednesday, and over Konkan and Goa on Monday and Tuesday, the department said. Similar weather conditions are likely to persist over parts of interior Karnataka, Telangana, and coastal Andhra Pradesh till Wednesday, and over interior Andhra Pradesh and Kerala from Monday to Wednesday, it said. Hailstorms are also expected over parts of north interior Karnataka till Tuesday, it said.  End
