MUMBAI – Trading in Brent crude oil futures contracts started on the National Stock Exchange on Monday. The May 2026 contract opened at INR 9,754 per barrel and rose to INR 9,756 per barrel, before falling back to INR 9,754 per barrel. By 2000 IST, 26 contracts had been traded at a value of INR 25.3 million.
The NSE has partnered with S&P Global Energy to introduce exchange-traded derivatives based on its Platts physical spot market benchmarks. As part of this collaboration, NSE has launched dated Brent crude oil (Platts) futures contracts based on the Platts dated Brent benchmark.
In a release earlier this month, the NSE had said Brent crude oil futures contracts are designed to help a wide spectrum of market participants, including refiners, importers, traders, financial institutions, and investors seeking exposure to global Brent crude oil markets through a regulated domestic platform.
