NEW DELHI – The Centre has permitted exports of basmati and non-basmati rice to some European Union countries without a certificate of inspection for six months, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade said in a notification Friday. However, rice exports to the UK, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland will require certification, it added.

A certificate of inspection by the Export Inspection Council or Export Inspection Agency will not be mandatory for exports to European countries, except the UK, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland, for six months until Oct. 1, according to the notification. End
