MUMBAI – Oilseed prices were steady across key markets of the country, traders said. Mustard seed prices were steady as demand was need-based, while soybean prices were steady as millers have already stocked the oilseed, they said. Prices are likely to increase in the coming days as costly imports of edible oil will increase demand for domestic oilseeds, they added.

MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur, Rajasthan, were steady at INR 7,250-INR 7,275 per 100 kilograms, according to Marudhar Trading Agency. Mustard seed arrivals across the country were at 900,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), the same as the previous day.

Mustard seed prices were steady in Kota, Rajasthan, also at INR 7,000 per 100 kg as demand from crushers was limited at higher prices, Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader, said. Arrivals in Kota were at 20,000 bags, the same as the previous day.

SOYBEAN prices at Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh were steady at INR 2,825-INR 5,850 per 100 kg, said Narendra Porwal, a local trader. Arrivals in the market were 2,500 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), the same as the previous day. In Kota, soybeans were steady at INR 5,600 per 100 kg, as crushers have already stocked the oilseed due to the high cost of edible oil imports, said Sameriya. Prices had risen by INR 300 on Monday, he said. Arrivals in Kota were at 9,000 bags, down 1,000 bags from the previous day.

GROUNDNUT prices in Ratlam were steady at INR 3,250-INR 8,100 per 100 kg. Arrivals were at 3,500 bags (1 bag = 30 kg), the same as the previous day. Groundnut prices could rise in the near term due to concerns over lower output, traders said.
