MUMBAI – Indian Potash Ltd. has invited tenders from international suppliers for the import of 2.5 million tonnes of urea. Of this, 1.5 million tonnes of granular or prilled urea will have to be supplied on the west coast of India and 1 million tonnes on the east coast, the company said in a notice on Saturday.

The deadline for submitting the tenders is Apr. 15 and they should remain valid till Apr. 23, the company said. "The quantity is meant for sailing of vessels ex-loadport latest by 14th June 2026," it said.

Availability of fertilisers is currently tight in India as the ongoing war in West Asia has affected supply of natural gas, which has affected domestic production. Adequate quantity of fertilisers is needed ahead of the kharif sowing season starting June. The country is also in need of buffer stock.  End
