EIA says US natural gas stocks up 36 bcf in week ended Mar 27

NEW DELHI – Natural gas inventories in the US rose 36 billion cubic feet in the week ended Mar. 27, according to data from the US Energy Information Administration. The inventory was 3% higher than the five-year average for this time of the year, the agency said in its weekly report Thursday.   

 

Total working gas in underground storage was 1.87 trillion cubic feet as of Mar. 27. The stocks were 54 billion cubic feet higher than the five-year average of 1.81 trillion cubic feet and 96 billion cubic feet above the year-ago levels, the agency said.

 

Total working gas remained within the five-year historical range. While the East, Midwest, and Pacific regions, as well as the Salt region in South Central reported no fall in inventories, those in Mountain and Nonsalt regions of the South Central fell, the agency said. At 0931 IST, the most-active May contract of natural gas on the New York Mercantile Exchange was down 0.4% at $2.807 per million British thermal units.  End
