NEW DELHI – India received an average rainfall of 8.6 millimetres in the week ended Wednesday, 25% above the normal of 6.9 millimetres for the period, according to the India Meteorological Department. Since Mar. 1, the country received 35.2 millimetres of rainfall, 14% below the normal of 30.9 millimetres.

 

All four homogeneous regions received above-normal rainfall during the week. East and northeast India received 24.0 millimetres rain during the week, 14?ove normal, and South Peninsula received 5.6 millimetres, 75?ove normal. Meanwhile, northwest India received 9.4 millimetres of rainfall, 22?low normal, and central India received 2.4 millimetres, 68?low normal, according to the data.

 

Of the 36 sub-divisions, 18 received large excess rainfall, while nine recorded deficient rainfall, and two recorded large deficient rainfall. Rainfall was in excess in three sub-divisions and normal in four sub-divisions during the week. End
