Gujarat government to procure chana, mustard at MSP from Monday

MUMBAI - The Gujarat government has decided to start procurement of chana and mustard in the state from Monday at the minimum support prices, it said in a release. It will procure these rabi crops under Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay Sanrakshan Abhiyan scheme and under price support scheme.

 

The state government will open 165 centres for chana procurement and 60 centres for mustard across the state, the release said.

 

Nearly 260,000 farmers have registered for selling chana, while more than 39,000 farmers have registered for sale of mustard. For the sake of transparency in procurement, the government has for the first time introduced Enabled Biometric and Face Authentication mechanism, the release said.

 

The Centre has fixed the minimum support price for chana for 2026-27 at INR 5,875 per 100 kg and that for mustard at INR 6,200 per 100 kg, according to the release.  End
