MUMBAI – Light to moderate showers are likely to continue in Delhi over the weekend, lowering temperatures and bringing much-needed relief from heat, private weather forecasting agency Skymet said Friday. Day temperatures are likely to dip to around 25 degrees Celsius in the next two days, while minimum temperatures could also drop to around 15 degrees Celsius in the next four to five days, the weather agency said.

 

Most parts of north India have recorded a wet spell this week due to the presence of multiple weather systems. Currently, an active western disturbance lies over Jammu and Kashmir, which is supported by a cyclonic circulation over the same region, the weather agency said. A westerly trough is also positioned at the rear of these weather systems. In the northern plains, a cyclonic circulation lies over Haryana and north Rajasthan, while an east-west trough runs from the circulation to the central parts of Uttar Pradesh, in proximity to Delhi. 

 

The wet spell over Delhi is likely to last for the next 48 hours, before easing on Monday, the weather agency said. With this, rainfall in the city is likely to reach its normal of 19.1 millimetres for the month of March, it said.  End
