MUMBAI – Oilseed prices in key markets around the country were mixed. Mustard seed prices rose in Jaipur, tracking higher international prices, but fell in Kota on higher arrivals, traders said. Soybean prices rose in Ratlam on firm miller demand but fell in Kota. Groundnut prices also rose in Ratlam on concern about lower output, they said.

MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur, Rajasthan, rose INR 100 per 100 kilograms to INR 6,875-INR 6,900 per 100 kg, tracking higher prices in the international market and also as arrivals were down a little, according to Marudhar Trading Agency. Mustard seed arrivals across the country were at 1.3 million bags (1 bag = 50 kg), down from 1.4 million bags the previous day, according to GGN Research.

The Indian mustard seed market is entering the new season amid weather uncertainty, moderate production growth, tightening stocks, and supportive global edible oil trends, Amit Gupta, analyst at Kedia Advisory, said in a note. These factors together suggest that while short-term volatility may continue, the broader market outlook for mustard seed prices remains firm, Gupta said.

In Kota, also in Rajasthan, mustard seed price fell by INR 150 to INR 6,400 per 100 kg on higher arrivals amid subdued demand, said Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader. Arrivals were at 24,000 bags, up from 22,000 bags the previous day, he said.

SOYBEAN prices in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, rose INR 100 to INR 2,750-INR 5,650 per 100 kg on firm demand from millers, said Narendra Porwal, a local trader. Arrivals in the Ratlam market were at 2,400 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), down from 4,000 bags the previous day. In Kota, soybean price fell INR 100 to INR 5,350 per 100 kg because of higher arrivals. Arrivals were at 10,000 bags, up 1,000 bags from the previous day.

GROUNDNUT prices in Ratlam rose INR 50 to INR 3,150-INR 8,150 per 100 kg owing to concern over low production, according to Porwal. Arrivals were at 3,500 bags (1 bag = 30 kg), down 100 bags from the previous day. Groundnut prices could rise further in the near term, traders said.
