MUMBAI – Mustard seed prices fell in Jaipur Tuesday due to high arrivals but prices were up in Kota tracking the global market, traders said. Prices of soybean fell in Kota due to subdued demand from millers and were steady in Ratlam. Groundnut prices were steady in key markets, they said.

MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur, Rajasthan, fell INR 50 per 100 kilograms to INR 6,775-INR 6,800 per 100 kg due to bumper crop arrivals, according to Marudhar Trading Agency. Mustard seed arrivals across the country were at 1.4 million bags (1 bag = 50 kg), same as the previous day, according to GGN Research.

In Kota, mustard seed prices rose by INR 200 to INR 6,550 per 100 kg tracking higher prices in the international market and due to lower arrivals, said Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader. Arrivals were at 22,000 bags, down from 29,000 bags the previous day, he said.

The Indian mustard market is entering the new season amid weather uncertainty, moderate production growth, tightening stocks, and supportive global edible oil trends, Amit Gupta, analyst at Kedia Advisory, said in a note. These factors together suggest that while short-term volatility may continue, the broader market outlook for mustard prices remains firm, Gupta said.

SOYBEAN prices in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, were steady at INR 2,750-INR 5,550 per 100 kg due to limited demand from millers, said Narendra Porwal, a local trader. In Kota, soybean prices fell INR 100 to INR 5,450 per 100 kg due to higher arrivals amid poor demand from millers. Arrivals were at 9,000 bags, up 1,000 bags from the previous day (1 bag = 40 kg).

GROUNDNUT prices in Ratlam were steady at INR 3,100-INR 8,100 per 100 kg, according to Porwal. Arrivals were at 3,600 bags (1 bag = 30 kg), same as the previous day. Groundnut prices could rise in the near term on concern about lower output, traders said.
