MUMBAI – Mustard seed prices fell in Rajasthan's Jaipur as arrivals were significantly higher, but were steady in Kota in the state, traders said. Soybean and groundnut prices were steady in key markets, they said. 

MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur fell INR 50 per 100 kilograms to INR 6,825-INR 6,850 per 100 kg due to bumper crop arrivals, according to Marudhar Trading Agency. Mustard seed arrivals in the country were at 1.4 million bags (1 bag = 50 kg), according to GGN Research. Arrivals on Saturday were at 1.05 million bags.

In Kota, seed prices were steady at INR 6,350 per 100 kg, said Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader. Arrivals were at 29,000, up 1,000 bags from the previous day, he said. The Indian mustard market is entering the new season amid weather uncertainty, moderate production growth, tightening stocks, and supportive global edible oil trends, Amit Gupta, analyst at Kedia Advisory, said in a note. These factors together suggest that while short-term volatility may continue, the broader market outlook for mustard prices remains firm, Gupta said. 

This season, several regions experienced dry conditions combined with rising temperatures, which accelerated crop maturity and affected seed development, Gupta said. Mustard crops typically benefit from winter showers, which help improve plant growth and yield potential.

Mustard is a key oilseed and plays a critical role in the domestic edible oil balance. Changes in mustard production, stock availability, and global edible oil prices directly influence domestic oil prices, crusher margins, and farmer income, he said.

SOYBEAN prices in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, were steady at INR 2,750-INR 5,550 per 100 kg due to limited demand from millers, said Narendra Porwal, a local trader. Soybean prices in Kota were also steady at INR 5,500 per 100 kg. Arrivals were at 8,000 bags, down 2,000 bags from the previous day (1 bag = 40 kg). 

GROUNDNUT prices in Ratlam were steady at INR 3,100-INR 8,100 per 100 kg, according to Porwal. Arrivals were at 3,600 bags (1 bag = 30 kg), the same as the previous day. Groundnut prices could increase in the near term on concern about lower output, traders said.
