MCX iCOMDEX opens lower, dragged down by bullion, metals indices; energy up

MUMBAI – The Multi Commodity Exchange of India's iCOMDEX Composite index opened lower Monday amid a fall in bullion and metals indices, although the energy index was up.

 

At 0941 IST, the MCX Composite index was at 25337.83 points, down 0.5% from Friday's close of 25453.65 points.

 

The bullion index was down 0.8%, with the gold index down 0.7% and the silver index down 1.2%. The base metals index was down 0.3%, with all component indices down, except the one for aluminium, which was up 0.4%.

 

However, the energy index was up 1.7%, with crude oil index up nearly 2% and natural index higher by 1.5% from the previous close.

 

The MCX iCOMDEX Composite comprises a series of real-time commodity futures price indices and tracks the performance of a basket of commodity futures. It serves as a benchmark for market movements in bullion, base metals, and energy.  End
