MCX energy, bullion indices open higher, pushing up iCOMDEX Composite index

MUMBAI – The Multi Commodity Exchange of India's iCOMDEX Composite index opened higher Friday as bullion and energy indices were in the positive zone, although the metals index was down from the previous day's closing.

 

At 0920 IST, the MCX iCOMDEX Composite was 25761.12 points, up 0.2% from the previous closing.  

 

The energy index was up 0.6%, with crude oil index up 0.6% and natural gas also higher by 0.6%. The bullion index was marginally up with both gold and silver indices marking a small rise.

 

However, the base metals index was in the negative zone, down 0.3%, with aluminium down 0.4% and zinc down 0.2%. Copper and lead too were down.

 

The MCX iCOMDEX Composite comprises a series of real-time commodity futures price indices and tracks the performance of a basket of commodity futures. It serves as a benchmark for market movements in bullion, base metals, and energy.
