MUMBAI – Mustard seed prices rose in the key market of Jaipur, tracking prices in the international market, but were steady in Kota, traders said. Soybean and groundnut prices were also steady in key markets, they said.

MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur, Rajasthan, rose INR 125 per 100 kilograms to INR 6,925-INR 6,950 per 100 kg, according to Marudhar trading agency. Mustard seed arrivals were at 1.15 million bags (1 bag = 50 kg), according to GGN Research. Arrivals on Wednesday were at 1.1 million bags. Mustard prices rose tracking prices in international markets but the gains will not sustain as arrivals are high and there are expectations of good production, according to traders.

On the other hand, in Kota, also in Rajasthan, mustard seed prices were steady at INR 6,400 per 100 kg, according to Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader. Arrivals were at 17,000 bags, the same as the previous day, he said.

SOYBEAN prices in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, were steady at INR 2,750-INR 5,550 per 100 kg due to limited demand from millers, said Narendra Porwal, a local trader. Soybean prices in Kota were steady at INR 5,351 per 100 kg. Arrivals were at 2,500 bags (1 bag = 40 kg).

GROUNDNUT prices in Ratlam were steady at INR 3,100-INR 8,100 per 100 kg, according to Porwal. Arrivals were at 3,600 bags (1 bag = 30 kg), same as the previous day. Groundnut prices could increase in the near term on concern about lower output, traders said.
