IMD forecasts severe heatwave conditions over some parts of Saurashtra Thu

MUMBAI – The India Meteorological Department has forecast severe heatwave conditions over some parts of Saurashtra, Kutch and parts of Vidarbha on Thursday. It has issued an orange alert for heatwave in Gujarat's Rajkot and warm night along with heatwave conditions in Surendranagar Thursday.
Similar weather conditions are also seen over some parts of Madhya Pradesh till Friday, it said. Himachal Pradesh and north Konkan are also likely to experience heatwave conditions on Friday and Saturday, it said.
Hot and humid conditions are very likely in some coastal areas of Saurashtra, Kutch, coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe till Friday and over Gujarat region till Saturday, the weather bureau said. Warm night conditions are very likely in parts of Saurashtra and Kutch till Friday and in Gujarat region on Thursday, it said.
Meanwhile, the department has forecast widespread moderate rainfall and snowfall over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh on Thursday. It has also forecast very heavy rainfall and snowfall in Arunachal Pradesh on Friday and has issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning in a few districts of the state on the same day.
Heavy rainfall is likely over Assam and Meghalaya till Sunday and over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on Monday and Tuesday. The department also expects heavy rainfall over sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim till Friday. In south India, the agency sees moderate rainfall with thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds speed reaching 30-40 kilometres per hour over Telangana on Sunday and Monday. End
