NEW DELHI – The US Department of Agriculture has raised its estimate for global oilseed output for 2025-26 (May-Apr) to 697.54 million tonnes, up from 695.78 million tonnes estimated in February, it said in its World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report for March. Higher sunflower seed, rapeseed, and cottonseed production has partly offset lower soybean production, it added. 

 

The department has cut its estimate for global soybean output to 427.18 million tonnes from 428.18 million tonnes projected in February. Global soybean production is reduced due to lower production estimates for Argentina and Ukraine, it added. 

 

In addition, it has also lowered its projection for soybean exports and ending stocks. Global ending stocks of soybean are estimated at 125.31 million tonnes, down from 125.51 million tonnes estimated in February. 

 

The estimate of soybean meal production in India in 2025-26 remains unchanged at 7.42 million tonnes. India is one of the largest importers of soy oil and an exporter of soybean meal.

 

Meanwhile, global vegetable oil production estimate has been raised slightly to 235.86 million tonnes from 235.10 million tonnes projected last month. End
