MUMBAI – Malaysia's crude palm oil production in February was 1.28 million tonnes, down 18.6% on month, according to preliminary data from the Malaysian Palm Oil Board. Malaysia's total palm oil stocks in February fell nearly 4% from the preceding month to 2.7 million tonnes. Exports during the month were down more than 22% from the previous month to 1.1 million tonnes, the board said.
Palm oil imports, including of processed oils, in February were at 76,276 tonnes, up a hefty 136% from the previous month, according to the data.
A Reuters survey had forecast inventories at 2.63 million tonnes, with output seen at 1.3 million tonnes and exports at 1.18 million tonnes.
Malaysia is the world's second-largest producer of crude palm oil and India is the largest consumer of edible oils.
