NEW DELHI – Futures contracts of all spices on the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange fell Friday, weighed down by rising arrivals of the fresh crop. Rising hostilities in West Asia also hit market sentiment as the region is a major export destination for spices, according to analysts.

"Escalating tensions between the US and Iran have disrupted maritime routes, raising concerns about smooth shipment flows," SMC Global Securities said, noting the region accounts for about 18% of total Indian spice exports.

The most-active April contract of CORIANDER was down around 2% at INR 11,480 per 100 kg, as rising arrivals weighed on prices. The contract is likely to trade in the range of INR 11,200-INR 12,200 per 100 kg in the near term, Ravi Shankar Pandey, senior research analyst, Brigid Agro Trade LLP, said.

The most-active April contract of TURMERIC was down 2.2% at INR 14,680 per 100 kg. Improving arrivals in Nizamabad, Telangana, and Sangli, Maharashtra, are adding to supply-side pressures, SMC Global Securities said in a report. Pandey sees the contract trading around INR 14,300-INR 15,700 per 100 kg in the near term.

The most-active April contract of JEERA was down 1.3% at INR 21,885 per 100 kg amid subdued domestic and weak export demand. Pandey sees the contract trading around INR 21,700-INR 22,600 per 100 kg in the near term. Comfortable stock levels and expectations of increasing new crop arrivals are likely to weigh on prices.
