MCX iCOMDEX Composite up 1%; energy, bullion, metals indices register rise

MUMBAI – The MCX iCOMDEX Composite index opened Friday at 24904.96 points, up from 24900.40 points at Thursday's close. At 0925 IST, the index was up a little more than 1% at 25154.34 points.

 

All the component indices of the Composite index were in the positive zone. The bullion index was higher by 1.1%, with gold index up 0.7% and silver up 2.1%.

 

The energy index was trading 0.4% higher, with crude oil up 0.4% and natural gas up 0.3%.

 

The index of base metals was up 0.4%, with zinc rising 0.4% and aluminium 0.3% up. The copper index too showed a rise of 0.3%.

  

The MCX iCOMDEX comprises a series of real-time commodity futures price indices and tracks the performance of a basket of commodity futures. It serves as a benchmark for market movements in bullion, base metals, and energy.   End
