MUMBAI – Prices of mustard seed in the key markets of Jaipur and Kota were unavailable as markets were shut on account of Holi, traders said. Soybean and groundnut prices were also unavailable as markets were shut.
Mustard seed prices in Jaipur, Rajasthan, weren't available as the market was shut on account of Holi, according to Marudhar Trading Agency. Traders said expectations of higher rabi output may push prices down in the coming days. Rabi mustard acreage was 8.94 million hectares, up 3.2% from the past year, according to agriculture ministry data.
Mustard seed prices in Kota, Rajasthan, were unavailable as markets were shut due to Holi. Prices rose by INR 100 to INR 6,600 per 100 kg on Monday as arrivals were lower, according to Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader.
SOYBEAN prices in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh were unavailable, said Narendra Porwal, a local trader. He added that prices would remain largely steady as there was good demand for cheaper imported palm oil from bulk consumers of edible oil such as food processing industries and large-scale hospitality.
GROUNDNUT prices in Ratlam were not available as the market was shut on account of Holi, according to Porwal. Groundnut prices could increase in the near term due to concerns about lower output, traders said. End
