IMD sees hot, humid conditions in Konkan till Thu, Gujarat, Andhra till Fri

MUMBAI – Hot and humid conditions are expected over parts of Konkan till Thursday, and on the coastal parts of Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh till Friday, the India Meteorological Department said, for which it has issued a yellow alert. A yellow alert is issued when the maximum temperature is 4.5 degrees Celsius to 6.4 degrees Celsius above normal.
No significant change in maximum temperatures is likely over the western Himalayan region in the next two days, according to the weather department. These are expected to fall by 3–4 degrees Celsius in the subsequent five days, it added. Over the plains of northwest India, maximum temperatures are expected to rise by 2–3 degrees Celsius in the next four days. As such, maximum temperatures over many parts of northwest India are likely to be markedly above normal by 4–6 degrees Celsius during most days of the week, the department said.
In central India, maximum temperatures are expected to gradually rise by 2–3 degrees Celsius in the next four days, the weather bureau said. The maximum temperatures over Andhra Pradesh are likely to rise in the same range in the next three days, the bureau said.
In north Maharashtra, the maximum temperatures are likely to gradually rise by 2–3 degrees Celsius in the next 24 hours, the bureau said. No significant change in maximum temperature is expected over the rest of the country, it said.
Minimum temperatures over northwest India are expected to gradually rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius in the next four days, the weather department said. In east India, minimum temperatures are seen gradually rising in the same range in the next three days, the bureau said. No significant change in minimum temperatures is likely over the rest of the country, it said.
A fresh western disturbance is expected to begin affecting the western Himalayan region from Friday, which is likely to cause light rainfall or snowfall over parts of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh from Saturday to Tuesday, the weather department said. The weather system is also likely to cause similar weather conditions over parts of Uttarakhand from Sunday to Tuesday, the department added. End
