MUMBAI – India's coal production from captive and commercial mines rose around 19% on year to 20.49 million tonnes in February, while dispatches reached 17.72 million tonnes, reflecting sustained operational momentum and progressive scaling up of mining activities across the sector, the Ministry of Coal said in a release Monday.

Coal production from these mines in Apr-Feb rose around 12% on year to 187.16 million tonnes, while cumulative dispatches rose 6.8% 184.47 million tonnes. "The sustained expansion in production and offtake reflects strengthened operational efficiency, accelerated capacity augmentation, and improved coordination across the mining value chain," the ministry said.  End
