MUMBAI – Under the influence of two cyclonic circulations, light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is likely over parts of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, and Kerala till Saturday, according to the India Meteorological Department. Similar weather conditions are expected over parts of sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim till Sunday, the weather department said. Currently, a cyclonic circulation lies over Kerala, while another lies over northeast Assam, the department said.

A fresh western disturbance is expected to affect the western Himalayan region from Monday, the weather department said. Under its influence, light rainfall or snowfall is expected over parts of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday and Wednesday, the department said.

The weather bureau has warned about hot and humid conditions in some pockets of Gujarat on Wednesday and Thursday. A warning for hot and humid weather is given when maximum temperatures remain 3 degrees Celsius above normal, along with the above-normal relative humidity.

Maximum temperatures over the plains of northwest India are expected to gradually rise by 2–4 degrees Celsius in the next seven days, the weather department said. As such, maximum temperatures over the region are likely to remain above normal by 3–5 degrees Celsius this week, the department said.

No significant change in maximum temperatures is likely over central India in the next 24 hours, after which it is expected to gradually rise by 2–4 degrees Celsius in the subsequent six days, the weather bureau said. In east India, no significant changes in maximum temperatures are expected in the next 24 hours, and thereafter a gradual rise by 2–3 degrees Celsius is likely in the subsequent three days, the bureau said.

In Maharashtra, the maximum temperature is expected to gradually rise by 3–4 degrees Celsius in the next five days, the weather bureau said. No significant change in maximum temperature is likely over Gujarat in the next two days, after which a gradual rise by 3–5 degrees Celsius is expected in the subsequent five days, the bureau said.

Maximum temperatures over Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra are expected to be above normal by 2–4 degrees Celsius towards the end of the week, the weather department said.  End
