Mustard dn in Kota; soybean, groundnut steady in key mkts

MUMBAI – Mustard seed prices fell in Kota but were steady in Jaipur. Mustard seeds are arriving in huge quantity in the markets, traders said. Soybean prices were steady in Kota as well as Ratlam and groundnut prices were also steady in key markets, they said.
MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur, Rajasthan, were steady at INR 6,775-INR 6,800 per 100 kilograms, according to Marudhar Trading Agency. Prices rose the previous day by INR 100 due to the arrival of better-quality seeds with higher oil content. Mustard seed arrivals across the country were estimated at 550,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg) of new crop and 50,000 bags of old crop, according to GGN Research. Arrivals of new crops on Tuesday were at 500,000 bags. Traders said anticipation of higher rabi output may lead to prices falling. Rabi mustard acreage was 8.94 million hectares, up 3.2% from last year, according to the agriculture ministry data.
In Kota, mustard seed prices fell by INR 100 to INR 6,600 per 100 kg, according to Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader. The arrivals in the market were 14,000 bags, down 1,000 bags from the previous day, he said.
SOYBEAN prices in Ratlam were steady at INR 2,700-INR 5,500 per 100 kg, said Narendra Porwal, a local trader. Arrivals were at 2,800 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), unchanged from the previous day.
Soybean prices in Kota were steady at INR 5,301 per 100 kg, Sameriya said. Arrivals were 10,000 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), same as the previous day.
GROUNDNUT prices in Ratlam were steady at INR 3,150-INR 8,050 per 100 kg, according to Porwal. Arrivals were steady at 3,600 bags (1 bag = 30 kg). Groundnut prices could increase in the near term due to concern over lower output, traders said.
