NEW DELHI – Futures contracts of jeera and turmeric fell Wednesday while those of coriander were up on the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange. Prices of turmeric and jeera fell as arrivals increased, while prices of coriander rose due to seasonal demand, analysts said.

At 1505 IST, the most-active April contract of TURMERIC was down 1% at INR 15,920 per 100 kilograms, as rising arrivals exerted pressure on market sentiment, SMC Global Securities said in a note. Demand for the spice during the wedding season and demand from foreign countries are seen limiting the downside, brokerages said. However, upside may be capped on days when arrivals are lower than normal, they said.

The most-active March contract of JEERA was down 0.6% at INR 22,590 per 100 kg, weighed down by ongoing arrivals and adequate supply, prompting traders to delay fresh purchases, SMC said. Prices are expected to "trade sideways" as arrivals gather momentum from March, the brokerage said.

The most-active April contract of CORIANDER was up 2.7% at INR 11,632 per 100 kg as seasonal demand offset pressure from rising new crop arrivals, SMC Global said. Prices are moving with an upward bias supported by wedding season demand, the brokerage said. Production, according to SMC Global, is expected to remain largely unchanged from the previous year.

Following were prices of the most-active spices contracts at the time of writing the report:
