Govt appoints Chhibber interim NITI Aayog CEO as Subrahmanyam's tenure ends

NEW DELHI – The government Tuesday gave Nidhi Chhibber, director general at the Development Monitoring and Evaluation Office, additional charge as chief executive officer of the NITI Aayog. Chibber has been given the additional charge upon the completion of B.V.R. Subrahmanyam's tenure as chief executive officer of the government's top think tank Tuesday.

 

Chibber, a 1994 batch Indian Administrative Service officer from the Chhattisgarh cadre, will hold the position of NITI Aayog chief executive officer till the appointment of a full-time chief executive, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet said in a notification. 

 

Chhibber has been director general at the Development Monitoring and Evaluation Office, attached to the NITI Aayog, since May 2024. Previously she had chaired the Central Board of Secondary Education.

 

Subrahmanyam had joined the NITI Aayog as chief executive officer in February 2023. He was previously secretary in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and has held positions across government departments, including in the Prime Minister's Office.  End
