MUMBAI – Mustard seed prices fell in Jaipur as arrivals were in huge quantity, traders said. Soybean prices fell in Kota and were steady in Ratlam while groundnut prices rose, they said.
MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur fell INR 50 to INR 6,750-INR 6,775 per 100 kilograms due to bumper arrivals of new crop and old crops, according to Marudhar Trading Agency. Mustard seed arrivals across the country were estimated at 450,000 bags new crops as well as 50,000 bags of old crops (1 bag = 50 kg), according to GGN Research. Moreover, mustard acreage is 3% higher than last year, so anticipation of higher output will keep prices on the downtrend, traders said.
In Kota, mustard seed prices were steady at INR 6,600 per 100 kg, according to Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader. Arrivals in the market were at 15,000 bags, same as the previous day, he added.
SOYBEAN prices in Ratlam were steady at INR 2,700-INR 5,500 per 100 kg, said Narendra Porwal, a local trader. Arrivals were at 2,800 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), unchanged from the previous day.
The price of soybean in Kota fell by INR 100 to INR 5,201 per 100 kg due to sluggish demand from millers amid high arrivals, Sameriya said. Arrivals were at 11,000 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), up 3,000 bags from the previous day.
GROUNDNUT prices in Ratlam rose by INR 50 to INR 3,150-INR 8,050 per 100 kg, according to Porwal. Arrivals were steady at 3,600 bags (1 bag = 30 kg). Groundnut prices could increase further in the near term due to concern over lower output, traders said.
