India's urad imports surge nearly 41% to 1.07 mln tn in 2025

MUMBAI – India imported 1.07 million tonnes of urad in 2025, up 40.7% from 758,946 tonnes in 2024, according to Ministry of Commerce data. The data, which was circulated by the Indian Pulses and Grains Association, shows that India imported 809,127 tonnes of urad from Myanmar, 237,602 tonnes from Brazil, and 20,996 tonnes from other sources in 2025.
Myanmar accounted for more than 75% of total imports in 2025. Urad imports were highest in the month of October at 242,371 tonnes, with 203,268 tonnes coming from Myanmar. In November, India imported 116,404 tonnes of urad, with 63,372 tonnes coming from Myanmar. End
