MUMBAI – Mustard seed prices fell in Jaipur and were steady in Kota, traders said. Mustard seed prices are likely to remain under pressure due to bumper new crop arrivals, they said. Soybean and groundnut prices were steady across key markets, they said.
MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur fell INR 25 to INR 6,800-INR 6,825 per 100 kilograms due to bumper arrivals of new crop, according to Marudhar Trading Agency. Mustard seed arrivals across the country were estimated at 450,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), up 25,000 bags from the previous day, according to GGN Research. Moreover, mustard acreage is 3% higher than last year, so anticipation of higher output will keep prices on the downtrend, traders said.
In Kota, mustard seed prices were steady at INR 6,600 per 100 kg, according to Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader. Arrivals in the market were at 15,000 bags, up 1,000 bags from the previous day, he added.
SOYBEAN prices in Ratlam were steady at INR 2,700-INR 5,500 per 100 kg, said Narendra Porwal, a local trader. Arrivals were at 2,800 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), unchanged from the previous day.
The price of soybean in Kota were steady at INR 5,301 per 100 kg due to sluggish demand from millers, Sameriya said. Arrivals were at 9,000 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), same as the previous day.
GROUNDNUT prices in Ratlam were steady at INR 3,100-INR 8,050 per 100 kg, according to Porwal. Arrivals were steady at 3,600 bags (1 bag = 30 kg). However, groundnut prices could increase in the near term due to concerns over lower output, traders said.
