NEW DELHI – Futures contracts of all spices were up on the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange Friday. Turmeric prices have been rising after they fell to their lowest level so far in 2026 on Monday while jeera prices rose after hitting the month's low Tuesday. Coriander was up on lower pace of arrivals.

At 1530 IST, the most-active April contract of TURMERIC was up 2% at INR 15,780 per 100 kilograms, supported by lower-than-normal arrivals and steady domestic as well as export demand, Kedia advisory said. Farmers and stockists have reportedly reduced their holdings, tightening near-term supplies, and lending strength to prices ahead of the new crop, the brokerage said. Prices have also been rising after they fell to a 2026 low of INR 14,800 on Monday.

However, gains are seen capped as fresh arrivals in Erode, Tamil Nadu, are expected to pick up over the next couple of weeks, it said.

The most-active March contract of JEERA was up 0.6% at INR 23,015 per 100 kg, supported by lower sowing and concerns over crop, Kedia Advisory said. In Gujarat, acreage is down 14.34% year on year at 408,000 hectares, marking one of the slowest sowing seasons in recent years, it said. Prices were also up after they fell to a one-month low of INR 21,825 per 100 kg Tuesday.

Prices have been sliding as arrivals of the new crop have started trickling into some markets. Prices are expected to remain pressured as arrivals gather momentum from March, SMC Global said.

The most-active April contract of CORIANDER was up 0.5% at INR 10,620 per 100 kg due to a drop in acreage as well as the low pace of arrivals, SMC Global said. A prolonged wet spell and below-normal temperatures in Rajasthan have increased the risk of frost and crop diseases, the brokerage said. Going ahead, prices are seen falling as the pace of arrivals rise, the brokerage said in a report.
