NEW DELHI – Futures contracts of all spices traded lower on the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange Monday. Turmeric futures fell to their lowest in 2026, as rising arrivals of the fresh crop and an improved near-term supply outlook weighed on market sentiment. Jeera declined on expectations of higher arrivals and coriander fell on subdued demand.
The most-active April contract of TURMERIC was down 1% at INR 14,870 per 100 kilograms, after falling to INR 14,800, the lowest level in 2026. Turmeric futures continued to decline as expectations of a rise in fresh crop arrivals in Erode, Tamil Nadu, over the next two weeks weighed on prices. Improved sowing conditions and higher acreage are also likely to further pressure prices.
However, losses are likely to be limited as inventories with farmers and stockists are relatively low, Kedia Advisory said in a note. In addition, unfavourable weather conditions, including heavy rains in parts of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka, have hit yields, raising supply concerns.
Market participants are closely monitoring the pace of fresh arrivals and export enquiries. Turmeric is seen trading in the INR 14,636-INR 15,696 per 100 kg range in the near-term, according to Kedia Advisory.
The most-active March contract of JEERA was down 2.5% at INR 22,285 per 100 kg, as new-crop arrivals started to trickle in some markets. Expectations of supplies gathering momentum from March are also pressuring prices.
Prices also fell due to comfortable inventories and subdued export demand. Farmers are expected to carry forward most of their inventories into the next season amid subdued demand. Technically, the market is witnessing long liquidation, with open interest declining alongside falling prices, according to Kedia Advisory.
The most-active April contract of CORIANDER was down 3% at INR 10,532 per 100 kg amid subdued buying. Going ahead, inventories, the pace of arrivals, and weather-related developments are expected to shape market sentiment, SMC Global Securities said in a report.
