NEW DELHI – Futures contracts of all spices traded lower on the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange Friday. Prices of turmeric continued to fall as the arrival of the new crop and improved supply outlook weighed on market sentiment. Jeera declined on expectations of higher arrivals and coriander fell on subdued demand.

The most-active April contract of TURMERIC was down 1.7% at INR 15,090 per 100 kilograms. Prices had risen earlier in the day after the contract Thursday touched the lowest level so far in 2026 of INR 14,916 per 100 kg, weighed down by rising arrivals of the new crop in key producing belts. According to SMC Global Securities, prices are likely to stay weak as pressure from the arrivals is expected to intensify in the following weeks.

The most-active March contract of JEERA was down 0.6% at INR 22,810 per 100 kg, pressured by profit-taking with the start of new crop arrivals in some markets. Sentiment remained weak as arrivals of the fresh crop are expected to gather pace from March amid muted export demand, Kedia Advisory said. However, the downside is likely to be limited by weather-related challenges and delayed sowing, particularly in Gujarat, it added.

The most-active April contract of CORIANDER was down 1.8% at INR 10,856 per 100 kg amid subdued buying. Going ahead, inventories, the pace of arrivals, and weather-related developments are expected to shape market sentiment, SMC Global Securities said in a report.
