Soybean, groundnut up in key markets on firm demand

MUMBAI – Oilseed prices were mixed Friday in key spot markets of the country, traders said. Soybean and groundnut prices rose in key markets across the country due to firm demand from millers, they said. But mustard seed prices were steady despite good demand as arrivals were in significant quantum.
MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur were steady at INR 7,125-INR 7,150 per 100 kilograms after increasing the previous day due to firm demand for the new crops, according to Marudhar Trading Agency. Mustard seed arrivals across the country were estimated at 100,000 bags of old crops (1 bag = 50 kg) and 250,000 bags of the new crop, up 25,000 bags from the previous day, according to GGN Research.
In Kota, mustard seed prices were steady at INR 6,700 per 100 kg, said local trader Mahesh Sameriya said. Prices had risen the previous day by INR 100 as new arrivals were dry and had higher oil content, he said. Arrivals in the market were at 11,000 bags, down 1,000 bags from the previous day, he added.
SOYBEAN prices rose by INR 50 in Ratlam to INR 2,700-INR 5,500 per 100 kg as there was firm demand from millers, said Narendra Porwal, a local trader. Arrivals were at 2,700 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), up 100 bags from the previous day.
Prices in Kota rose by INR 155 to INR 5,455 per 100 kg as demand improved, Sameriya said. Arrivals were at 12,000 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), up 2,000 bags from the previous day, Sameriya said.
GROUNDNUT prices in Ratlam rose INR 50 to INR 3,100-INR 8,050 per 100 kg due to firm demand from millers and lower arrivals, according to Porwal. Arrivals fell to 3,600 bags (1 bag = 30 kg), down 300 bags from the previous day.
