NEW DELHI – Future contracts of spices were mixed on the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange Thursday. Contracts of turmeric fell as arrivals of fresh crop picked up pace, while coriander rose due to a fall in acreage, analysts said. Jeera contracts ended almost unchanged from Wednesday.

The most-active April contract of TURMERIC fell 1.6% to INR 15,452 per 100 kilograms and touched the lowest level so far in 2026, weighed down by rising arrivals of the new crop in key producing belts. Prices had seen a slight rise Wednesday on below-normal arrivals and firm domestic and international demand. According to SMC Global Securities, prices are likely to stay weak as pressure from the arrivals is expected to intensify in the coming weeks.

The most-active March contract of JEERA was steady at INR 23,000 per 100 kg. The prices are likely to trade weak, pressurised by restricted buying at higher levels amidst the start of new arrivals in small patches, SMC said. Although new arrivals are currently trickling in, supplies are expected to increase further by month-end, the brokerage said.

The most-active April contract of CORIANDER was up 0.5% at INR 11,078 per 100 kg due to a drop in acreage, as well as the low pace of arrivals, SMC Global said. A prolonged wet spell and below-normal temperatures in Rajasthan have increased the risk of frost and crop diseases, the brokerage said.
