MUMBAI – Under the influence of an upper air cyclonic circulation over the east equatorial Indian Ocean and adjoining Bay of Bengal, light to moderate rainfall is likely over north Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Friday, the India Meteorological Department said. Two fresh but feeble western disturbances are expected to form to the northwest of India. The disturbances are likely, respectively, to begin affecting the western Himalayan region from Friday and Monday onwards, the weather department said.

The two western disturbances are likely to cause a wet spell with rainfall or snowfall over parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad Friday, Monday, and Tuesday, over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand Monday and Tuesday, and over Arunachal Pradesh Thursday and Saturday, the department said. Rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is expected over parts of Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh Monday and Tuesday, the department said.

The weather bureau has warned of dense fog conditions during the morning hours in parts of Meghalaya till Thursday and in Himachal Pradesh till Friday. Visibility drops to 0–50 metres in "very dense fog" conditions and to 51–200 metres in "dense fog" conditions.

No significant change in minimum temperature is likely over northwest India in the next 48 hours, after which a gradual rise by 2–3 degrees Celsius is seen in the subsequent five days, the weather bureau said. No significant change in minimum temperature is expected over the rest of the country, the bureau said.

No significant change in maximum temperature is likely over the plains of northwest India in the next 48 hours. Thereafter, a gradual rise by 2–3 degrees Celsius is expected, according to the weather bureau. Maximum temperatures in Konkan, Goa, and coastal Karnataka are expected to rise gradually by 2–3 degrees Celsius in the next three days, it said.  End
